What are the requirements to use the Bar Cop inventory software?
Bar Cop inventory control software is an Excel based application, so you will need a current version of MS Excel installed on your computer for the program to function.
Do I have to weigh open bottles to use the Bar Cop software?
No. Although the Bar Cop software was desigined to be able to accurately weigh open bottles and tapped kegs using the tare weight feature, it was also designed it to accommodate inventories taken by point count methods. So you can take inventory either way you choose, or both ways if you like.
How easy is it to setup the Bar Cop inventory software?
The only setup needed to start using the Bar Cop software is to enter your inventory values prior to taking your very first inventory. This includes the products you carry, prices, pour sizes, etc. Once this information is entered, it only needs to be altered if you change prices or products.
Does the Bar Cop inventory software track by drink recipes?
No, a misconception in the inventory software business, is that you need to track your liquor by drink recipes. In reality, this is a feature that does not work and is only used as a selling point. First, you would have to have every recipe of every drink entered in your inventory software and also your POS system (you can't just pick and choose recipes). If you managed to accomplish that, then secondly you would have to rely on your bartenders to hit the correct drink name key, every single time.
As long as your drinks are cost out correctly (use the Bar Cop drink cost feature), your bartenders always charge the correct price (not always hit the correct drink key) and your inventory is taken accurately... then your liquor will always be tracked efficiently by comparing your total actual sales to your total product usage.
What is the difference between the Pro, Elite and Audit packages?
The Bar Cop inventory software is the same in all three packages. The Pro package is the software by itself. The Elite package allows you to quickly add a bottle scale and keg scale to weigh your open products with the software. The Audit package is designed to help people start their own independent auditing business.
How many products does the Bar Cop inventory software hold?
The Bar Cop inventory control software can hold up to 600 liquor brands, 200 wine brands, 200 bottle beer brands and 200 draught beer brands. The total number of products that the program holds can not be changed to a greater amount. If your bar carries more products than what Bar Cop can hold, you will not be able to enter all of your products.
What language and currency does the Bar Cop program support?
The Bar Cop program currently only operates in English and US Currency. If you need to calculate in another currency or read in another language, then the Bar Cop program will not work for your needs.
Is there a way to see the Bar Cop program before buying?
Sure, click here to download the Bar Cop software demo. Note: You can not change any information in the demo.
I have a small bar, do I need Bar Cop's inventory software?
Every bar, no matter the size needs not only inventory software but proper inventory control procedures. It is a documented fact bars on average lose 20% or more retail profit to shrinkage. Can a bar of any size afford to lose that much profit?
What's the difference in weighing open bottles and point counts?
Using a point count for inventory control is an outdated method. Although you can still use this method to count your inventory, the margin of error is very high and an accurate inventory will never be taken. The margin of error of using the point count methode (eye-balling) is between 12 and 15 percent. Weighing your open bottles and using tare weights, will bring your inventory between a 2 to 4 percent margin of error. That can be the difference in tracking the loss of $1000's in retail profits each week due to theft, over-pouring, etc.
What is the bottle tare weight calculator?
If you will be weighing your open bottles, then you need to know the tare weights of your products. The tare weight calculator allows you to accurately find the tares for your products by simply entering in the full bottle weight and bottle size. You find the full bottle weight by simply weighing an unopened bottle and the bottle size is the liquid ounce (i.e. a 750ml bottle size is 25.4). This makes is quick and easy to adjust tare weights when bottle designs change, bottle defects are noticed, etc.
