Updated July 12, 2026

1 Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information Bar Cop collects, how we use it, and how we protect it, across our marketing website (barcop.com) and our software application (app.barcop.com).

Bar Cop is an operational tool for bars and restaurants. We collect only what we need to provide it, and we do not sell your information.

2 Information You Provide

We collect the information you give us to create and use your account:

  • Account information, your name or business name, email address, and a password
  • Business and operational data, the data your bar runs on that you enter into the app, such as inventory counts, products and vendors, staff names and wages, hours and tips, sales and cash figures, event bookings, and expenses
  • Payment information, provided directly to our payment processor, Stripe, when you subscribe (see Payments below)
  • Communications, the information you send if you email us or use a contact form

Bar Cop does not ask for or store Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, or government identification.

3 Information Collected Automatically

The app. To run the Service and keep your account secure, we process basic technical information such as your login session and standard server logs.

The website. Our marketing website is hosted on Shopify. Shopify sets its own cookies and collects standard analytics and security information as part of hosting the site. That collection is governed by Shopify's own privacy practices, which we do not control. We do not run Google Analytics or third-party advertising trackers.

4 What We Do Not Do

  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your information
  • We do not add you to marketing email lists or send promotional email you did not ask for
  • We do not run advertising networks or behavioral ad tracking
  • We do not collect Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, or government IDs

5 How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to:

  • Provide and operate the Service
  • Calculate the figures and reports you use
  • Process your subscription payments
  • Secure your account and prevent abuse
  • Respond to your support requests
  • Comply with the law

We do not use your business data for any purpose other than providing the Service to you.

6 Payments

Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. When you subscribe, your card details go directly to Stripe. Bar Cop does not see or store your full card number.

Stripe handles your payment information under its own privacy and security practices. We keep records of your subscription and invoices so that you and we have an accurate billing history.

7 How Your Data Is Stored

Your account and business data are stored in our database provider, Supabase, on secure servers and encrypted both in transit and at rest. The application itself is hosted on DigitalOcean App Platform. We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data.

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keeping your password confidential is an important part of protecting your account.

8 Who Can See Your Data

Your business data is visible to you and to the team members you invite and grant access to, based on the roles you assign them.

Bar Cop staff do not access your business data except when necessary to provide support, fix a problem, or comply with the law. We do not share your data with anyone other than the service providers listed below that help us run the Service.

9 Service Providers

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to operate Bar Cop:

  • Shopify hosts our marketing website
  • DigitalOcean hosts the application (app.barcop.com)
  • Supabase provides our database and stores your account and business data
  • Stripe processes subscription payments

These providers process data only to provide their services to us and are bound by their own privacy and security obligations.

10 Cookies

The app uses only the essential cookies needed to keep you logged in and secure. It does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

The marketing website runs on Shopify, which uses its own cookies for site functionality, analytics, and security. Those cookies are governed by Shopify's practices, which we do not control.

11 Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your data while your subscription is active so the Service works. You can export your books, reports, and a full account backup at any time.

If you cancel, we retain your data through the end of your paid term so you can export it. After that, we may retain limited records as required for legal, tax, or accounting purposes. You may request deletion of your account data by emailing support@barcop.com, and we will honor it subject to those limited legal retention needs.

12 Your Rights

You can access, correct, and export your data at any time from within the app. You can also request a copy or deletion of your personal information by contacting us.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws. Contact us and we will honor the rights that apply to you.

13 Children's Privacy

Bar Cop is a business tool intended for adults operating a bar or restaurant. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

14 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
