Copy and Paste data

Bar Cop makes it simple for you to copy and paste data both inside the software and also paste data into Bar Cop from an outside source like an Excel or text file.

Bar Cop pasting inventory data

To paste data from an outside source, right click and copy the data from the source, select the cell or cells in Bar Cop that you want to paste the data into, and click the paste icon. In product setup, you can paste product names, product costs, pour/serving sizes, and regular prices from an outside spreadsheet (make sure to add the number of product rows needed before pasting a long list of product names). You cannot paste data into a column with a drop-down menu: product vendor names, bottle/keg/case sizes, and densities.

Things to know:

1) When copying from an outside source like an Excel spreadsheet, data must be in single cell structured columns (cells are not merged together). You cannot paste data into columns with drop-down menus.

2) Once data has been pasted, it can only be undone by directly deleting the data or deleting the file. If you make a mistake pasting data and it cannot be easily deleted, click the save file icon and rename the file to something like "trash file". Close the "trash file" and then delete it. Reopen the previous file and try pasting again.
