Bar Cop is the leading inventory control + theft prevention software application for bars and restaurants since 1998.

Add and delete product rows

You will need to add product rows when you first setup Bar Cop and in the future when you add new products to your inventory or delete rows when you remove products from your stock. To do this, you will use the "Plus" and "Minus" buttons.

Bar Cop add rows

Let's learn how to add a row(s):

To add a row(s) in product setup, the first step is selecting a cell in the product name column where you want the rows to go.  The row(s) will always be added under the selected cell.  *When adding a large amount of rows in an empty product setup, it does not matter which product name cell you select.

Once you have selected a cell in the product name column, click the "Plus" button. The add row(s) dialog box will open. Count your total products and enter the number of rows that you want to add. For example: If you have 110 liquor products, when first setting up the program you might want to add 100 rows, giving you a total of 120 rows. (Bar Cop comes with 20 rows added in each section by default). Or you can add one new row at a time as you enter a new product.

Important: Do not click the "Plus" button until you have selected a cell in the product name column. *You cannot add a new row above the first product row by selecting the header column.

Now let's add a row between products.

When you add a new product to your inventory, you will want to add that product in the right order (in product setup we recommend putting your products in alphabetical order). To add a new row between products, first select the product name right above where you want to add the new product row and click the "Add" button. Next enter 1 to add one row, and then click "Add" in the dialog box.

The new row has now been added underneath the selected product name and ready for you to enter the new product data.

Let's learn how to delete a row:

To delete a row in product setup, the first step is selecting the cell in the product name column of the row that you want to delete. Once you have selected the product row that you want to delete, click the "Minus" button and the delete row dialog box will open. Unlike adding rows, you can only delete one product row at a time.

When you are ready to delete the selected row, click "Delete" in the dialog box.

The selected product row has now been deleted.

Warning: Deleting a row cannot be undone.

Things to know:

1) When adding a new product or deleting an existing product in a current inventory file, there are a few additional steps to take (see adding and deleting products).

2) Once a row has been deleted, it cannot be undone. If you delete a product row on accident, immediately click the save icon and rename/save the file as "trash" or something similar. Close the newly named "trash" file (delete it when you are ready to). Reopen the original file to continue.

3) When you add or delete a row into product setup, the same change is made throughout most of the program, with the exception of inventory locations (see setting up inventory locations) and shift checks (see how to take shift checks).

4) The add and delete row buttons are located in each inventory location and shift check section and the process to add and delete rows is the same.
