Bar Cop saves as you work, keeps dated copies of your whole account on its own, and lets you roll back to one. There is nothing to remember and nothing to schedule. This page is mostly so you know what is already happening.

Your work saves itself

Every change writes to your account the moment you make it. Most screens have no Save button because there is nothing to press. Sign in on another device and your data is already there.

The screens you use while running the floor keep writing even when the connection does not. Take Inventory, Receive Delivery, Spot Check, Cash Control and the Void and Comp Log all hold your entries on the device if the wifi drops mid-count. Next time you open Bar Cop on a working connection, a small banner offers to push the pending changes up. Nothing is lost because the wifi flaked while you were counting the well.

Backups happen without you

Bar Cop keeps two separate sets of restore points, and one can never crowd out the other:

• 30 automatic daily backups. These are the safety net. You do not create them and you cannot delete them.
• 10 manual restore points. Take one yourself before doing something big, like a bulk price change or a first real import.

They are pruned in their own pools on purpose. Taking six manual snapshots during a heavy afternoon does not evict a single daily, because the time depth of the dailies is the whole reason they are worth having. A mature account shows up to forty dated rows on the Data and Backup page.

Taking one yourself

Data and Backup lives in Settings and is owner only. Take a restore point before anything you would want a clean way back from. It costs nothing and it is instant.

Manual restore points can be deleted when you no longer want them. The automatic dailies cannot, by design: the safety net is not something a wrong click should be able to thin out.

Restoring

Restoring replaces everything with the snapshot you picked. It is the whole account, not a screen or a section, so it is a deliberate act rather than an undo button.

Bar Cop will refuse to restore on top of unsynced work, and that refusal is protecting you. If changes are still waiting to reach the server, a restore and your own edits would race, and whichever landed last would win with no way to tell which was which. Let the sync finish, or press Sync Now, then restore. The message tells you exactly how many changes are waiting, and nothing has been changed when it refuses.

If a restore cannot finish, it puts things back the way it found them rather than leaving you half restored.

Changes the server refused

Occasionally a write is rejected outright rather than just delayed. Those are listed separately with their own controls, and the page says plainly what they are: saved on this device but refused by the server, so Bar Cop stopped retrying. Nothing has been deleted. They do not count as unsynced work and they do not block a restore.

You get two choices. Try Again if you think the cause is fixed, or Discard to drop that change for good.

What this does not replace

Backups protect your Bar Cop account against a mistake, a bad import or a change you want to walk back. They are not a copy of your POS, your payroll records or your bank statements, and they are not an accounting archive. Keep exporting your Month-End Books and your Annual Review the way you would anyway. Those are the documents that leave the building.
