The Hub is your home screen, and it answers one question: are you running the bar better than you were? Every number on it is a door into the screen behind it.

One card per section

The Hub carries one card for each section of your rail, in rail order: Inventory, The Week, Run Audit, The Floor, Menus, Events and Books. Each card opens and closes, so you can keep the two you look at every day open and fold the rest away.

The row of figures on each card

Across the top of every card is that section's headline reading. Inventory shows what is on the shelf, what is still to order and what has not moved. The Week shows net sales, prime cost and your cost percentages. Run Audit shows your operations score and the money still on the table. The Floor shows hours, overtime and over and short.

There is no dead space in that row. Every cell is either a figure or the job that produces it. A reading Bar Cop cannot compute yet does not show a dash and it does not show a zero: it shows you the step that would fill it. That matters because a zero meaning "no data" and a zero meaning "you counted nothing" look identical on screen and have opposite fixes.

A finished step disappears. It is not ticked and left sitting there. Once you have done the thing, that cell becomes the number, so the card is always showing you what is left rather than a checklist of what is behind you.

What is inside an open card

• Audit scores, where the section has one.
• Needs attention. What that part of the business is waiting on, worst first, each row a tap into the item it names. Expiring permits and certificates, projected overtime, cash flags.
• What moved. The operating number that went furthest your way across your last two weeks, and the one that went furthest against you.
• Done this week. Work already on file, read from your records rather than ticked by hand, so a tick means the work is genuinely there. It reads "Done this month" on a card whose jobs are all monthly.

A block with nothing to say does not draw a heading at all, so an open card is only ever showing you things that exist. If a whole section is running quietly, the card says so in a sentence rather than opening on an empty box.

What moved needs a second closed week

With one week closed there is nothing to compare against, so the What moved block simply is not there. There is no waiting message to look for. It appears the week you close your second one, and from then on it names whichever number actually moved the money rather than a fixed pair.

Scores that have never run

A score that has never been generated reads as a dash, not a zero. A zero would be a judgement Bar Cop has not earned the right to make. The same rule runs through the whole page: where there is no basis for a number, you get the absence stated plainly rather than a figure that looks like a result.

More than one bar

Your bar name shows in the top bar. If you run more than one, that name becomes a switcher: pick another bar and Bar Cop reloads into it. Each bar is its own subscription with its own data, and nothing is shared between them.
