How to run Bar Cop.
Step-by-step guides for every part of the app. Keep this open in a second window while you work, so you can follow along on your own screen.
Week In review
A recap of a week that has finished. Eight sections, three questions each, and every line of it read out of records you actually made. It is the page to open on a Monday when you want to know how last week went without opening eight screens.
It only shows finished weeks
The week selector cannot land on the week you are currently living in. A half-lived week has half its records, and a recap of it would report a bar that looks like it did nothing about a week nobody has finished yet.
It opens on your last closed week. If you have not closed one in a while, it opens on the one you did close rather than jumping to an empty week.
The three headline numbers
At the top, three figures for the week with your own targets beside them:
- Check Average against your target
- Labor % against your target
- Revenue per Labor Hour against your target, or just for the week if you have not set one
A dash means the week does not carry that figure, not that it was zero.
Three questions per section
Each of the eight sections answers the same three things, in the same order:
- Done This Week. What actually happened. Counts taken, spot checks run, deliveries received, orders placed, hours and tips logged, logs filed.
- What It Turned Up. What that work found. Variance, over and short, below par, trapped cash, and so on.
- Carrying Into Next Week. What is still open and follows you into Monday.
The sections are Inventory, Labor, Shift, Profit, Revenue, Cash, Events and Books.
Nothing here is a checkbox
Every line is derived from a record. There is nothing to tick and no progress bar to fill, because a tick can say the work was done when it was not, and a record cannot.
The one thing the page will tell you it did not find is a week you never confirmed, and that comes off the weekly record itself rather than off anything you marked.
An empty band is information. If Shift shows nothing under Done This Week, nobody logged anything in Shift that week. That is a real answer, and it is the point of the page. It is not the app failing to find your data.
Where the numbers come from
Every figure here is the same figure the section screen shows. Nothing is recalculated a second way for the recap, which is deliberate: two screens computing the same number by different routes is how they end up disagreeing. If Trapped Cash reads a figure here, it is the figure Trapped Cash reads.
Export it
Export PDF gives you the whole review as a document: the headline numbers and all eight sections with their three bands. It is a useful thing to hand a partner or a GM who was not in that week, and it is the fastest way to have a Monday conversation off one page instead of eight screens.
How it differs from Week History
Week in Review is one week in depth, across every section. Week History is every week you have confirmed, shallow, so you can see the run of them and re-open one. Use this to understand a week, and that to compare them.
