Bar Cop runs in a browser, so your phone and your tablet are already set up. There is no app to download, no store, no updates to install, and nothing to keep in step across devices. Open the same address you use on the desktop and sign in.

Nothing to install

That is the whole setup. A new phone, a borrowed tablet, a manager's device on their day off: sign in and everything is there. You are never stuck because the person with the app on their phone is not in tonight.

The screens built for it

Not everything wants to be used on a phone, and Bar Cop does not pretend otherwise. Building a schedule or reading the Annual Review is desk work. The screens you actually touch while running the floor are the ones built for a device in your hand:

• Take Inventory, on a cart going shelf to shelf
• Spot Check, at one service bar
• Receive Delivery, standing at the dock
• Cash Control, at the safe
• The Void and Comp Log, behind the bar as it happens

On a phone these are not a squeezed version of the desktop screen. The bottle slider grows to something a thumb can actually drive, the plus and minus buttons become proper touch targets, and cards tighten up so a product fits without sideways scrolling.

When the wifi drops

Back rooms and walk-ins are where signal goes to die, which is exactly where counting happens. Bar Cop keeps writing your entries to the device as you go. Nothing stops, nothing warns you mid-count, and you do not have to stand somewhere specific to get a bar of signal.

Next time you open Bar Cop on a working connection, a banner offers to push the pending changes up. Nothing is lost because the connection dropped in the middle of counting the well.

Finish the count on the device you started it on. Held entries live on that device until they sync, so switching to another phone halfway means the first phone is still holding the part it has. Come back to a signal, let the banner sync, then carry on anywhere.

Getting around on a small screen

The left rail folds into a burger menu. Tap it for the same destinations in the same groups, so what you learned on the desktop still applies. The info button stays in the top bar, so the directions for whatever screen you are on are one tap away with your other hand full.

Handing a device to staff

A phone left on the bar is a phone anyone can pick up. Give people their own sign-in with the access they need rather than sharing yours, and what they can reach is what you decided, on any device they use. Team access is set once, in Settings, and it follows the person rather than the phone.

What to do at a desk instead

These work on a phone but are genuinely nicer with a keyboard and a wider screen:

• Building the schedule
• Adding your product list for the first time
• Month-End Books and the Annual Review
• Reading an audit and deciding what to work on

Nothing stops you doing any of it on a phone. It is just a lot of columns for a small piece of glass.
