Profit Recovery is where Bar Cop hands your numbers back as money. Inventory, Labor and Shift put the facts in. This section reads them, prices what is leaking, and tells you which one thing to work on.

What it is for

Every bar has leaks. Most operators know they have them and cannot say which one is worth their Tuesday. This section answers that question in dollars, off your own weeks, and then keeps score while you do something about it.

Profit Recovery is about cost: what you paid for what you sold, and what left without being sold. Revenue Recovery is about the top line and Cash Recovery is about the money actually in the bank. All three work the same way.

The shape, and it is the same in all three

1. Audit. A score across five areas, with what is wrong and what it costs.
2. Playbook. The strategy behind the systems: where the money leaks and which screen deals with it.
3. Fix. Where you actually work the leak. A fix is a system you put in place and keep running, not a checklist you finish.
4. Forecast. A look ahead, projected from the weeks you have already confirmed.
5. Experiments. Your own before-and-after log for changes you chose to make.

In this section those rows are called Profit Audit, Profit Playbook, Profit Fix and Profit Forecast. In Revenue and Cash they carry those section names instead, and behave identically. Learn it once here and the other two need no relearning.

The Profit Audit

Scores five areas: Pour and Bar Cost, Food Cost, Shrink and Waste, Theft and Cash Loss, and Vendor Cost Control.

Run it whenever you like. There is no waiting period. What decides the score is whether there is something real to grade: an area with nothing behind it is marked not enough data and left out of the score rather than filled in with a middling number. An early audit with some sections scored and others blank is the design working, not a failure.

Working a fix

The Fix system is the part that matters. It takes what the audit found, prices it, and gives you a system to run rather than a task to tick. You start it, you work it, and Bar Cop measures whether the number moved.

Recovery dollars do not appear straight away, and Bar Cop tells you so rather than inventing one. A new bar has no before to compare against, so your own first weeks become the baseline. The first figure lands about a month in and settles by roughly week eight. Each Fix page carries a timeline showing which phase you are in and how many weeks you have been running.

Numbers that will not be dollarized

Some readings are shown as a review rather than a dollar figure, on purpose. A ratio is not cash: you cannot recover a percentage, and turning one into a headline dollar is how software ends up promising money that was never on the table. Where Bar Cop cannot honestly price something, it says review instead of inventing a number.

Your profit projected forward from confirmed weeks. It is labelled as a projection everywhere it appears, and never mixed in with money you have banked.

Your own before-and-after log. When you make a change you chose, like re-speccing a pour or switching a vendor, start one here and Bar Cop measures what it was worth.

Where the numbers come from

Nothing in this section is typed. Every figure is derived from your closed weeks, your counts and your logs. That is why the section is quiet in week one and gets sharper every week: it is reading your operation rather than an estimate of it.

It also means the fastest way to make this section useful is not in this section at all. It is closing weeks and taking counts.
