How to run Bar Cop.
Step-by-step guides for every part of the app. Keep this open in a second window while you work, so you can follow along on your own screen.
Add Your Products
Your product list is the foundation of everything Inventory does. Cost and pour size on each item are what let Bar Cop work out your pour cost, value your shelf, and build your orders. Set it up once and it carries.
Add a product
1. Open Add Products
From the Inventory sidebar, open Add Products. You will see a card for each category: Liquor, Wine, Bottle Beer, Draft Beer, Food, and Misc. Pick the one that fits what you are adding.
2. Fill in the basics
Give the product a name, its size, and what it costs you. For liquor and wine, set the pour size you actually pour. That pour size is what turns a bottle cost into a cost per pour.
3. Set how it is counted and ordered
Bottle beer is tracked by the case and the loose bottle, so set the case size. Draft beer is tracked by the keg. Food and misc can carry a pack size when you buy by the case or box.
4. Assign a vendor and a location
Tie the product to the vendor you buy it from and the location you store it in. That is what lets Bar Cop group your orders by vendor and follow your count order.
5. Save
Save the product and it drops into your list. Repeat for the rest of your shelf, and edit any product later as costs change.
The one thing not to skip: cost and pour size. No pour size, no pour cost. If a product has no pour size, Bar Cop cannot tell you what it costs to pour.
Keeping costs current
When a vendor raises a price, your cost should move with it. Receiving a delivery in Bar Cop updates the cost for you, so the fastest way to keep costs honest is to receive your deliveries here. You can also edit a product's cost by hand any time.
