How to run Bar Cop.
Step-by-step guides for every part of the app. Keep this open in a second window while you work, so you can follow along on your own screen.
Build your menu
Menu Builder is the one place you build and price your menu. Everything Bar Cop knows about an item, its price, cost, recipe, and weekly units sold, lives here, and Menu Engineering, the Dog Test, and Recipe Summary all read from it.
1. Add an item
Open Revenue Recovery → Menu Builder. Start from the tile for the kind of item you are adding. Dishes and cocktails get a recipe builder, so add ingredients and the cost computes itself, or skip the recipe and type a flat cost. A No Prep item links straight to an Inventory product, and the cost and menu price auto-fill from it. A poured product carries a Pour Size, a food item carries a Portion, and bottle beer sells whole. Enter units sold so Menu Engineering can weight the item by how often it sells.
2. Shape your sections
The Category on each item is the section it sits in on your menu, and the list is yours. Tap Edit next to Category to add your own sections, Happy Hour, Brunch, Featured, rename them, or reset to the defaults. Any item type can go in any section, so a Happy Hour section can hold a cocktail, a dish, and a beer together.
3. Import a whole menu
Switch the form to Import File to drop a spreadsheet of your whole menu at once. Map the columns, and items come in without recipes; edit any item afterward to build its recipe or link a product.
4. Finish incomplete items and manage archives
An item missing a price or a cost shows as Incomplete and is left out of Menu Engineering until you finish it; the banner at the top counts how many are open. An item you cut from the Dog Test lands in an Archived list at the bottom, kept off the menu but not deleted. Restore brings one back intact; Delete Permanently removes it for good after a confirm.
Editing a price here also logs a pricing change, so the Pricing Review Log in Menu Engineering picks it up.
