How to run Bar Cop.

Step-by-step guides for every part of the app. Keep this open in a second window while you work, so you can follow along on your own screen.

Read the Recipe Summary

Recipe Summary is a read-only diagnostic. Every menu item with a recipe is costed from the live prices of its ingredients in Inventory, then ranked by cost percentage so the items eating your margin sort to the top.

1. Read the numbers up top

Open Profit Recovery → Recipe Summary. The strip shows how many items are costed from a recipe, how many run over their target cost percent (red when any do), how many still need a recipe, and how many pull their cost from a linked inventory product.

2. Read the items with recipes

Cost per serving computes automatically from current product prices, so when a vendor raises a price these update on their own. Cost percent is the cost against the menu price, and over-target items are flagged and sorted to the top. Export PDF saves the full analysis.

3. Fix what is missing or over target

Items Missing a Recipe carry a hand-entered cost; add an ingredient recipe to switch them to live, ingredient-based costing. Linked Inventory Items, direct-pour beer, wine, and NA drinks, cost straight from the linked product, no recipe needed. Hit Work on any item to open its editor in Menu Builder, update the recipe or price, then come back to see the new cost percent.
